[Review] Clarisonic Cleansers

Recently, I got the Clarisonic Mia and I'm loving it. However, I'm not going to talk about the wonderful gadget, because there are so many reviews about it all around. And the general consensus is that the Clarisonic gadget is awesome for deep cleansing. Instead, I'm going to talk about the cleansers.

Cleansers are important in cleansing. No matter how good a gadget is, its full potential cannot be realized if a poor-quality cleanser is used. Hence, Clarisonic has customized its own cleansers to be used together with the gadget.

Clarisonic has 3 types of facial cleansers:

1) Gentle Hydro (For sensitive skin)

Clarisonic Gentle Hydro Cleanser enriched with cucumber, green tea and panthenol gently removes make-up, dissolves impurities and purifies the skin without irritation. This non-foaming cream nourishes and soothes leaving skin soft, smooth and hydrated.

2) Refreshing Gel (For all skin types)

Clarisonic Refreshing Gel Cleanser formulated with willow bark, bearberry and kiwi clarifies skin of congestion and dulling impurities. This pH balanced, foaming gel, gently exfoliates and brightens leaving skin renewed, refreshed and radiant.

3) Acne Daily Clarifying (For acne prone skin)

Clarisonic Acne Daily Clarifying Cleanser formulated with salicylic acid helps clear and prevent new acne blemishes from forming by gently exfoliating to unclog pores and help dry excess sebum. Enriched with vitamins and botanicals, this comforting, foaming cleanser helps reduce the appearance of redness and leaves skin feeling soft and smooth.

There was the Refreshing Gel cleanser alongside with the Clarisonic Mia I bought. I'm loving the cleanser so much because it was non-irritating and it smells so fresh and great.

I'm hoping to get the other two cleansers after I have finished the Refreshing Gel, so that I will be able to know which cleanser works best for my skin. I have high hopes for the Gentle Hydro and Acne Daily Clarifying :D

I will review all the cleansers once I've finished using each cleanser, so stay tuned! ;)

[Review] LUSH Herbalism

Herbalism

During my Lush haul a few months back, I also got Herbalism. It was recommended to me because the staff told me that it cleanses very well. Plus, it has antibacterial properties which ensures cleaner skin. It's supposed to clear up blemish-prone skin and oily skin. There are also ground almonds in the product which helps to exfoliate the skin.

The product smells very clean, green and fresh. I love the smell as it wasn't very overwhelming and it made me want to smell the product more and more.

I love how the ground almonds exfoliate the skin really well. The grains were relatively coarse but it wasn't very rough on the skin, which was just nice.

After you wash off the product, it leaves a thin film of oils on your skin to moisturize and protect your skin. Even so, I still prefer to use a moisturizer after using Herbalism, just that I use less of my moisturizer.

Pros: My skin feels really clean after cleansing and the exfoliating was an extra plus. I also love how it left a layer of moisture after rinsing with water.

Cons: Nil! :)

Price: It was the same price as Aqua Marina at around $25 per tub. However, since I bought at the same time I got Aqua Marina, there was a 50% discount, so it costed around $12.50.

Will I repurchase? Definitely! It was a great cleanser for me! Faith in Lush restored :D

[Review] LUSH Aqua Marina

Aqua MarinaAqua Marina

A few months ago when I had my Lush haul, my skin was breaking out so badly and there were so many patches of redness. I was recommended Aqua Marina by the staff because the product was supposed to reduce the redness and soothe the skin, great for sensitive skin. I don't doubt the function of the product because there was calamine in the ingredient list.

Like the picture shown, the product is pink and squishy and is rolled up with seaweed. The smell was a bit funky and I didn't like it at all despite the continual use. It did smell fresh, but it wasn't the type of fresh which I like.

So how to use the product? Basically, you just pinch some out and place in your palm, then rub it to create a creamy paste consistency and then massage into your skin. Sounds easy? Well, it actually isn't. Because it has such a paste-like consistency, the product keeps getting stuck on my hands and kept sliding sideways away from my palms and fingers. It was terribly difficult to keep the product centered so that the product can actually contact my skin.

After a month of using the product, there wasn't any improvement to my skin. My skin still looks very red and inflamed after cleansing. Personally, I found that the product did not help me at all. But don't take my word for it, because in skincare, the whole regime counts and maybe my moisturizer or serums weren't working as well so my skin didn't improve.

Pros: Nil.

Cons: Smell was funky. Difficult to use. Overall an ineffective cleanser for me.

Price: The original price was around $25. I say around $25 because every tub has different weight of the product and the price depends on the weight. Luckily for me, I bought it when it was 50% off so I paid around $12.50, though I can't remember the actual price.

Will I repurchase? Absolutely not! I didn't like this product at all despite the great reviews by other people. It's a total miss for me :( I feel lucky knowing that I only paid half the original price for this product.

[Review] My Beauty Diary Strawberry Yogurt Amino Acid Cleanser

As I promised in the previous post, I shall review one of the items inside the MBD Sweet Teatime Mini Set. So in this post, I shall review the Strawberry Yogurt Amino Acid Cleanser.

This cleanser comes in a cute tiny tub which contains 30ml of the stuff. I love the colour of the tub and the label is really cute as well.

The colour of the cleanser is a shimmery pink. There are extremely fine beads which helps in exfoliating as well. It doesn't smell all that like strawberry yogurt and the scent is very mild, but you can definitely tell that it is a cleanser which is has strawberry elements.

When you first apply the product on your damp face, you might feel that you're not using enough and that it doesn't foam very well. However, upon washing for a while with water, it will become more foamy rather than the initial "dryness". After washing my face with the cleanser, my skin didn't feel tight at all and instead, I felt my skin becoming very refreshed.

I also like the fine scrubby feeling very much, because I am a fan of exfoliating, no matter how gentle or how rough.

The next product I'll be reviewing will be the Vanilla Souffle Face Scrub which is part of the MBD Mini Set.

Stay tuned!

[Review] My Beauty Diary Sweet Teatime Mini Set

This is another item I got for my trip in Hong Kong (now that I think about it, I should have made a haul post, but oh well, whatever). It is My Beauty Diary Sweet Teatime Mini Set! :D

For a long time now, I love MBD (short form btw) products because the packaging are just so lovely. They are simple but yet so appealing with their soft pastel colours. But anyway, moving on...

When you first open the box, you'll see details of each item inside:

 Looks so pretty, right?

Apparently the voucher expired last year, so this batch was last year's batch. Nonetheless, the voucher looks nice.

The mini set includes Strawberry Yogurt Amino Acid Cleanser (the little tub), Vanilla Souffle Face Scrub (the bottle) and 2 masks: Chocolate Truffle Mask and Earl Grey Tea & Macaron Mask.

I really enjoyed this purchase because the cleanser and the face scrub are like fun-sized and I don't need more than a month to finish using them. This is really important to me because I like to try many new things and I have a tendency to neglect some stuff and then the next time I see them, they have already expired, so yup.

I will review each product after I used them so keep your eyes peeled!

I got this for HK$79 at Angel Cosmetics in Hong Kong. Personally, I found it a little bit more expensive than it should have been; the bottle and tub are rather small and the masks were, well, masks. But then again, they were so cute that I couldn't resist.

[Review] TONY MOLY Broccoli Sprout Cleansing Cream

In my trip to Hong Kong, I also got this, the Broccoli Sprout Cleansing Cream. The price was more than reasonable, considering the brand itself and the quantity of the cream. The packaging was really adorable too!

See? It's like a broccoli sprout because of the leaf. The product is so pun intended :D

So anyway, the following is the product description that was written on the box itself:

The brilliant cleansing care system brings strong vital power of fresh sprouts with dewy water.

The fresh cleansing cream that removes impurities and make-up as it contained the broccoli sprout of the Super food.

This young broccoli cleansing cream makes the skin healthy and revitalized. It provides super energies as it contained the active ingredient of "the super food" such as blueberry, tomato and young broccoli. The AHA makes the skin smooth and glossy while removing dead skin cells and impurities from the skin. Containing young green tea and lavender, this fresh cleansing cream energizes the tired skin and gives the comfortable and peaceful cleansing time.

What is Broccoli sprout? This fresh and green sprout delivers full of spring vitality and is very rich in various nutrients including vitamin A, vitamin C and minerals.

[Directions] Apply an appropriate amount on the entire face, gently massage with finger tips, wipe off with a soft tissue, and cleanse with our cleansing foam.

My take:

I really love this! The scent isn't very strong and was mild and pleasant.

Like the picture of the cream as shown, you can see there are green little dots. Those are not exfoliating beads, but I am guessing those help to clean the skin, because when you squeeze the green dots, it actually becomes smudgy, as if it is part of the cream itself. So please note that the product does not exfoliate.

Before I bought the cleansing cream, I didn't read the instructions and so I didn't notice there was a second part of the cleansing routine which includes the cleansing foam. However, I think that even without the cleansing foam, the cream itself still cleanses very well.

I think this product is suitable for people with dry skin too because after I used it, my skin didn't feel tight at all. Instead, it felt quite moisturize, but I still applied moisturizer all the same.

I bought this at HK$98 at the TONY MOLY outlet at The Peak in Hong Kong. I'm not sure whether it'll be that affordable in the TONY MOLY in other countries so you guys should check with the outlet most convenient for you. Also, the salesperson were really nice! They gave me a few samples. I haven't used them yet, but when I do, I'll definitely do a review on them :)

[Review] The Face Shop Herb Day Olive Leaf Bubble Foam Cleanser

This picture was taken from the official website of The Face Shop, though the product I bought had a different packaging.

Formulated with non-irritating, natural cleansers derived from Olive Oil as well as Iris and Lily extracts, this refreshing mousse-type cleanser produces a fine, delicate foam that leaves skin soft, hydrated and exquisitely clean.

Does it work?
It's very pleasant to use because the foam that comes out of the bottle feels light and fluffy and cute. However, even though it was meant for all skin types, there have been times when my skin feels very tight after using it.

Fragrance: The smell was very light but pleasant nonetheless.

Will buy again?
I smelt nicer cleansing foam and experience better cleansers. So no, I won't get this again.
